Trust and Respect have been two themes of recent Leadership training I had attended. I had always understood the importance of these two ideas in leadership and being successful. After two separate week-long training sessions, I begin to look at it a bit different. I had always looked at it from my view of myself and the attributes I was after to be part of my leadership foundation. This was before I was spending more and more time helping and mentoring young leaders. I now have started looking at how to get people to understand the true essence of these concepts. I have found that many often confuse Trust and Respect with Loyalty and being Liked. Once I saw this, it became much easier to work with leaders in understanding these pivotal concepts. Seems like a small thing, big extrodinarily important when one is working towards being an authentic leader.
